It's not your average castle, it is small and quirky, which makes it special! Check out the maze garden at the back. They have exhibitions all year round in the courtyard.

You can only see the inside of the castle if you go on a guided tour. The wait is usually 30 minutes or so... if you're not interested in the tour, I still suggest going to see the outside.

It's the heart of historic Dublin.In fact the city gets its name from the Black Pool -"Dubh Linn" which was on the site of the site of the present Castle garden.Built in the13th century.Don't miss it!

Take the guided tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and an excellent story teller. Much better than trying to figure it out myself on the self guided tour.

Take the guided tour to see the Viking excavation and the chapel. Reasonably priced; a great way to get a foundational understanding of Dublin’s history.
