Late Bronze Age walls and surfaces at Limantepe.
Limantepe is an important bronze age site on the west coast of Turkey, located at modern Urla (near Izmir). Settlement began c. 4000 BCE, and included both a fortification and artificial harbor works. Early, Middle, and Late Bronze Age strata have been excavated, which combined with the nearby Archaic/Classical site of Clazomenae represent the longest continuously occupied site on the Aegean Anatolian coast. Some Late Bronze age remains suggest close ties to Mycenae during this period.
