Ivory panel depicting a popular Phoenician theme, a woman with Egyptian-style hair looking out of a balustraded window, possibly a sacred prostitute, connected with Ishtar, goddess of fertility, sexuality and war and counterpart of the Semitic goddess Astarte. Found in the Palace of Ashurnasirpal II at Nimrud, the site of the ancient Assyrian capital of Kalhu, northern Iraq, 9th-8th century BC. October 4, 2012, Canon 7D.
